Val Swisher, Founder & CEO

Val SwisherVal Swisher founded Content Rules recognizing that even the largest companies often do not have the technology, people, and expertise to create content that is global ready. Founded in 1994, under her leadership the company has grown to encompass 20 full-time employees, 180+ customers, and an extensive network of contractors.

Val is a past member of the Society for Technical Communication and the Localization Industry Standards Association, and a frequent speaker on how to create, standardize, and get your content ready for the demands of the global market place. Publications include: “The Comprehensive Guide to Computer Telephony Integration,” published by CT Institute Press, and “Mastering Network Management,” published by Numidia Press.

Before Content Rules, Val held management positions in technical documentation and training at SynOptics and 3Com. She is a graduate of Tufts University and an accomplished musician. She lives in Los Gatos with her husband Greg, her daughter Maddie, and her son Max, otherwise known as Good Morning Geek. Yes – that Max Swisher.

Tim Steele, President

Tim SteeleTim joined Content Rules in 2008 to head up Client Services and was promoted to President in 2011. Prior to Content Rules, Tim spent a year at DCM as their VP in charge of Internal Operations, where he was responsible for finance, HR, IT, and legal, among other functions. Prior to that he spent 15 years in instructional design and web-based training, splitting his time between the agency-side (Crawford and Associates where he served as the COO) and the client-side (Baxter Healthcare). Tim’s experience includes spearheading training for the worldwide implementation of SAP for Hewlett Packard, as well as leading teams of instructional designers, graphic artists, editors, and web developers creating solutions for such clients as Cisco, Intel, Gap, and Logitech.

After living in Michigan, Florida, Chicago, and New York, Tim is now happy to call California home. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano and socializing with his parrot and the 42 palm trees just minutes from his front door in Silicon Valley.

 

Greg Swisher, CTO

Greg SwisherGreg Swisher joined Content Rules in 2002. In 2010, Greg was promoted to CTO, responsible for determining the company’s strategic technology direction. Greg also manages its infrastructure and support teams. Greg came to Content Rules with 20 years of experience in high tech and networking. He served as a Technical Support Manager for Terayon Communications Systems. He also spent over a decade at 3Com Corporation as a Manager in the Interoperability Lab and as a Senior Technical Support Engineer. Greg graduated from DeVry Institute with a degree in Electronics.

Greg’s passion is cooking, creating lighter versions of recipes from around the world. He enjoys cycling the hills around the Bay Area and especially its rugged coastline. Additionally, Greg enjoys sharing his love of astronomy with others by volunteering at the Lick Observatory at Mt. Hamilton and co-teaching through Project Astro in the local elementary schools.

Mira Wooten, VP of Business Development

Mira Wooten Mira came to Content Rules in 2006 after holding a similar position at an e-learning company. Over the last 20 years, Mira has led documentation and training projects for Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems, and Siebel Systems. Mira is a senior member of the Society for Technical Communication and a certified Enterprise Content Management Practitioner. She holds a BS degree in Business from the University of Phoenix and a graduate certificate in Telecommunications Management from Golden Gate University.

Mira writes and performs music in the Bay Area to raise money for non-profits when she’s not helping her clients achieve their business goals.

Anne Cameron, Corporate Controller

Anne Cameron Anne joined Content Rules in 1999 from Anderson News where she held the position of Director of Sales, Merchandising, and Customer Service. Prior to Anderson News, Anne held executive management positions in sales and operations with Aramark Corporation, The San Francisco Giants, Ramallah Inc., Weinstocks, and RH Macys.

Anne spends her free time traveling, boating, camping, and spending time with her children and other members of her family in the Bay Area.
