Val Swisher, Founder & CEO
Val Swisher founded Content Rules recognizing that even the largest companies often do not have the technology, people, and expertise to create content that is global ready. Founded in 1994, under her leadership the company has grown to encompass 20 full-time employees, 180+ customers, and an extensive network of contractors.
Val is a past member of the Society for Technical Communication and the Localization Industry Standards Association, and a frequent speaker on how to create, standardize, and get your content ready for the demands of the global market place. Publications include: “The Comprehensive Guide to Computer Telephony Integration,” published by CT Institute Press, and “Mastering Network Management,” published by Numidia Press.
Before Content Rules, Val held management positions in technical documentation and training at SynOptics and 3Com. She is a graduate of Tufts University and an accomplished musician. She lives in Los Gatos with her husband Greg, her son Matthew, and her son Max, otherwise known as Good Morning Geek. Yes – that Max Swisher.
Tim Steele, President
Tim joined Content Rules in 2008 to head up Client Services and was promoted to President in 2011. Tim’s experience includes spearheading training for the worldwide implementation of SAP for Hewlett Packard, as well as leading teams of instructional designers, graphic artists, editors, and web developers creating solutions for such clients as Cisco, Intel, Gap, and Logitech.
After living in Michigan, Florida, Chicago, and New York, Tim is now happy to call California home. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano and socializing with his parrot and the 42 palm trees just minutes from his front door in Silicon Valley.
Greg Swisher, CTO
Greg Swisher joined Content Rules in 2002. In 2010, Greg was promoted to CTO, responsible for determining the company’s strategic technology direction. Greg also manages its infrastructure and support teams. Greg came to Content Rules with 20 years of experience in high tech and networking. He also spent over a decade at 3Com Corporation as a Manager in the Interoperability Lab and as a Senior Technical Support Engineer. Greg graduated from DeVry Institute with a degree in Electronics.
Greg’s passion is cooking, creating lighter versions of recipes from around the world. He enjoys cycling the hills around the Bay Area and especially its rugged coastline. Additionally, Greg enjoys sharing his love of astronomy with others by volunteering at the Lick Observatory at Mt. Hamilton and co-teaching through Project Astro in the local elementary schools.
Alberto Cassola, SVP of Sales
Alberto Cassola joined Content Rules in May, 2012 as Senior VP of Sales. Alberto excels at developing client-facing teams and new lines of business, especially when client needs and the technologies to support them are evolving rapidly. He comes to Content Rules after serving as the VP of Sales and Marketing at ThomasNet, a leading publisher of product information and content targeted to engineers and technical buyers. During his tenure at ThomasNet, Alberto was instrumental in transforming and growing the company by introducing new cataloguing products based in the cloud, e-commerce solutions, and XML applications to enable data syndication.
Alberto knows the importance of global readiness first hand. Born in Milan, Italy, Alberto speaks Italian fluently. Early in his career he was responsible for sales for luxury brand Bottega Veneta, splitting his time between Italy and the US, with the occasional jaunt to Japan. A native New Yorker, Alberto graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in Political Science. Today, Alberto lives on the banks of the Hudson River but splits his time between the East Coast and the West Coast based on client needs. Alberto spends his spare time with his two teenage daughters, who like him are foodies, enjoy travel, and boating.
